I Got Tagged

The Fat Lady Sings has tagged me for one of those delightful MEME's:

1. Grab the book closest to you.
2. Open to page 123, go down to the fifth sentence.
3. Post the text of next 3 sentences on your blog.
4. Name of the book and the author.
5. Tag three people.

The book closest to me is The Cloud Spotters Guide by Gavin Pretor-Pinney, founder of The Cloud Appreciation Society. It's an ARC (Advance Review Copy) and I am trying to finish it and write my soon to be forthcoming review.

But I suppose it's sneak peek time, so here goes:

The fifth line on page 123 begins:

HAMLET: Do you see that cloud that's almost in shape like a camel?
POLONIUS: By the mass, and it's like a camel indeed.
HAMLET: Me thinks it's like a weasel.

The book closest to me is Jack Kornfield's After the Ectasty, the Laundry.

Fifth line on page 123:

In the stories of the Buddha's later life, however, we learn that Maria's Disappearnace was only temporary. Many times afterward Maria returned to fight or tempt or undermine the Buddha. It is said the Buddha recognized Maria each time he appeared and so was not caught by temptation, fear, or doubt.

It's finally the weekend! Hope you have a fabulous one. Keep warm, and enjoy the holidays!

*CHEERS*

PS...Thanks for reminding me to finish this book! :)

O.K, I can not even tell you how coincidental this is.

It's all to complicated to explain in a comment, but trust me, Im trippin.

Oh me too, here's mine...

Just gotta turn on the light, and find my old lady glasses.

The book is Codependent No More, by Melody Beattie.

Page 123, after the fifth sentence:

If we have one character defect that is abhorrent, it is the way we hate and pick on ourselves. That is simply not tolerable nor acceptable any longer. We can stop picking on ourselves for picking on ourselves.

Right on...

Hi everybody!

Looks like the party is over at Dr. Johns place today.

Indeed on the Dr. John.

My book is The Power of Compassion by The Dalai Lama.

pg. 123, sentences 5-7:

In fact, I recently had a meeting with Karl Popper, the philosopher. We have known each other since my first visit to this country in 1973. In our meeting we discussed violence on television and my view that too much violence is having a very negative impact on the minds of millions of children.

Thanks for tagging me on this one! I've been thumbing through this book the last couple of weeks whenever I've needed a boost.
